Lucy Andrews

“Let the practice serve you physically, mentally and spiritually – awakening to your true nature, inner wisdom and inspiration…”

Travelling in Australia in 1988 I attended my first yoga class, with Iyengar teacher Caroline Coggins.  She introduced me to something that would change my life forever, though I didn’t realise this at the time; a spark had been ignited to something bigger than I could possibly imagine, something so wonderful that continues to cultivate my love and deep appreciation of yoga.   She gave me a solid grounding in the foundations and alignment of Iyengar yoga and helped me develop a commitment to my practice of yoga which continues today.

After a break several years ago from illness I was fortunate to meet a wonderful teacher, friend and mentor, Richard Birrell.  At this time Yoga was literally a ‘health saver’ for me and it is from this foundation that yoga became such a strong and integral part of my daily life.

I studied with the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) and now teach a range of classes founded on Hatha Yoga, working with those with illness or injury, general classes and private clients – practicing and teaching with sensitivity, integrity and intuition, addressing specific individual needs.

I teach aiming to inspire others to create their own inner balance between strength and flexibility, vitality and relaxation… awakening to the subtle yet profound change practice brings.

From a teenage interest in food and nutrition and I majored in Nutrition at University of Bath, UK.  My increasing interest in health and wellbeing led me to studying a Diploma of Herbal Medicine in 1995 adding to understanding of mind-body connection and cultivating wellness.

Yoga is a powerful practice for life transformation, uncovering the layers of illusion and awakening you to your inner wisdom and bliss.  Your return to the rich wholeness of yourself . . . from where you never left.  Developing a grounded presence for riding the waves of life and creating a life that is fulfilling and inspiring reflective of your inner light shining through your unique human form.  My inspiration and commitment to yoga is in inspiring recognition of the richness of the Self beyond perceived limitations and towards integrating wellness of body mind and spirit into daily life.

“We never have today again, how do you want to live it?”

I am grateful to all the inspiring teachers and students I’ve met and shall continue to meet along the way – thank you.
